This week's episode was such a refreshing reminder of all the reasons that I've fallen head over heels for Castle! I will admit, and not be the first actually to concede that this episode blew away all of my expectations. I personally don't watch the promos that get released on Monday, I want to leave a couple of surprise moments, and this tactic did not let me down! The episode originally looked like a fluff episode with an unlikely villain, far fetched Castle theories, and Beckett dealing with Castle's "alternative" interrogation techniques. However, the underlying depth and relationship moments of this episode were incredible testaments to the writers, cast, and crew! And in a request that is years old.... Nathan Fillion finally got his ninja assassins!!

In my opinion this week's episode had three standout players, Nathan, Stana, and Penny. The majority of the episode was carried on Nathan and Stana's humor. Both of which are vastly different, however Nathan had the larger load to bear in my opinion! To actually make that kind of shtick believable and relateable is a true talent! Stana's humor is more of the one liners and looks, both of which she nailed down flawlessly. Beckett's facial expressions will be the death of me!! It was interesting to see more of Gates this episode, since in the next episode we are going to delve into Gates' past and meet her half-sister. Her mediation between Beckett and Castle was a highlight for me, she has truly come around to having Castle at the precinct and accepts him as a member of the team.

The case was actually pretty interesting last night, from the cause of death, to the ninjas attacking Castle, and then the Gates mediation, it was a very lighthearted take at a heavy subject, just what the fandom needed after "In the Belly of the Beast". But it still had its own weight to bear. In a parallel that this show is almost famous for, Kate's quote at the end to Saya, spoke volumes of how far she has come from chasing her own ghosts. Just as in the last episode we saw Beckett's realization that she is fair game to Bracken, but decides to walk away, realizes that she has something worth so much more to live for. When our victim's sister has her family's killer in the metaphorical cross-hairs, Kate's well earned wisdom rings true:
"I've been there, you want blood for blood, but it's not worth it. Just let him live with who he really is." - Kate Beckett

Overall, it was a very cute episode! There were a couple moments that the Asian stereotypes got to me, but I can't say much, as they were intentional> (the line about racial profiling... "I'm Korean..) I didn't find any problem with the lengths that Castle went to, to find information, and clearly Beckett wasn't phased by it either. He once again proved at the Hostess Bar, that sometimes thinking outside of the box is exactly what will crack the case. And who didn't love a karaoke singing Kevin Ryan...? I loved the exchange between Kate and Rick about getting boring. This is one of the only times that Rick's previous marriages have been brought up in a serious, let's discuss this kind of way. I really enjoyed seeing Kate insecure about their future and having Rick reassure her that this time will be different. Her one, his done.
As we are winding down this season, Marlow and Co. are certainly gearing up to give us some very memorable episodes. So hold on tight Castle fandom!! Here we go!
