David Tennant in the dark on Broadchurch future

David Tennant is scared his 'Broadchurch' character might be killed off.

The actor has admitted he has no idea what the future holds for Detective Inspector Alec Hardy in the drama and he suggested some of his co-stars are jumping the gun by saying they will definitely be back for the new series.

Speaking to Radio 4, he said: "We don't know where the characters are going. We don't know the story he is telling.

"Some people say they know they are in it. I am not sure they do, though. I think some might get a shock."

And after Alec Hardy was suffering from a "heart attack" in the previous series, David has no idea how writer Chris Chibnall will handle his character as the show moves forward.

He added: "I was dying of a heart attack, so I don't know how able Alec Hardy will be to do any more crime fighting, so we will have to see."

David has been exploring other projects since leaving 'Doctor Who' in 2010, and he admitted his return for the science fiction show's 50th anniversary celebrations was something that was always on his mind.

He previously explained: "I was aware when I left that the 50th anniversary wasn't very far away.

"And there's that thing with 'Doctor Who' where the moment you get the job, people are asking when you're going to leave.

"The moment you leave, people ask when you're coming back. It's a possibility that's always being visited upon you by other people."

Anna Paquin Will Not Appear In X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Anna Paquin will not be appearing in X-Men: Days of Future Past after being cut from the film.

Paquin was set to reprise her role of Rogue in a single scene in the latest X-Men film, but that has now been left on the cutting room floor.

The actress was set to appear in an action scene alongside Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart and Shawn Ashmore, but director Bryan Singer has decided that the scene will no long be included in the final cut.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Singer said: "Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It's a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it.

"But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go.

"Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she's in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won't appear in it."

Paquin took on the role of Rogue for the first time back in 2000 in X-Men: she went on to reprise the role of X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand.

X-Men: Days of Future Past see Singer return to the director's chair in a film that will mix stars from the original franchise and X-Men: First Class.

The movie is set to see Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) travel into the past to change history and prevent a major event that will be disastrous for both mutants and humans.

Diesel plays Groot in Marvel film

Vin Diesel is officially set to play Groot in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy, following months of rumours and speculation.

He has joined the star-studded cast for the upcoming live-action film, which already includes Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista, reported the Marvel website, Marvel.com.

Vin Diesel Announces New Fast & Furious 7 Release Date

Vin Diesel took to his Facebook page Sunday night to post a photo of himself and Paul Walker and tell fans that their Fast & Furious 7 will be released next April 10.

The movie's opening, originally scheduled for July 11, 2015, according to industry reports, had been placed on hold after the Nov. 30 fatal car crash involving Walker, 40, who was a passenger in a Porsche being driven by his friend, Roger Rodas, 38.

Music Monday - Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas.

When I was a kid all the fantastic bands and musicians came together for a cause raising money for the kids of Africa, led by the amazing Bob Geldof of the boomtown rats no sleeping, just writing and performing and getting the word out. They were the very first superstars to create something and get together to help the world. I am and always will be a music nut and this song released on a 45 had to be mine 100% of the proceeds were going to help the famine in Africa. I ran out and bought several copies of it and my holiday tradition was born. We all listen to holiday music to get us in the spirit, for me the season does not begin unless I hear this song. They sat up for days and called in favors to get this song wrote and recorded. This was the first act and movement to set the stage for everyone to make the world aware. Not long after this group of musicians got together with what became a quiet movement, another group USA for Africa led by Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones Bruce Springsteen and others came to be and many forgot about Bob and the amazing singers like the men from Duran Duran, Bono, Bananarama were forgotten what they had done.  Bob Geldof wasn't done, after recording and releasing Do They Know it's Christmas he went on to make one the greatest concerts of all time Live Aid. Performed at Wembley Stadium and in Philadelphia and continued to raise money for those that needed it in Africa.  Please if you have never listened to the song, take a listen. To me this brings back happy and amazing memories of the holidays and I feel this song screams Christmas.

The One Direction heart throb is engaged to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards after proposing in August and his mum Trisha has revealed they are looking to tie the knot next year.

She told the BBC: "Perrie is a lovely girl and I get on really well with her.

Friends remember James Gandolfini's sad eyes and sex appeal in HBO tribute

HBO will remember James Gandolfini on Sunday with a special tribute featuring more than two dozen friends and colleagues, including "The Sopranos" family creator David Chase, his "Sopranos" wife Edie Falco, and "Sopranos" underboss Tony Sirico.





Gandolfini died of a heart attack on June 19 while vacationing in Italy with his son. After "The Sopranos" went off the air, the actor maintained a fruitful relationship with the network that made him an international star. He produced two documentaries on veterans' issues for HBO and the film "Hemingway and Gellhorn." He also starred in HBO's "Cinema Veritae," a film co-starring Diane Lane. Just before he died, he had begun working on a new mini-series "Criminal Justice."

In a promo released by HBO, Chase comments on Gandolfini's sad eyes, Falco recalls laughing with him, and Sirico calls him "a good man" who "just happened to be a brilliant, brilliant actor." Lane remembered his unexpected sex appeal.

The special includes clips of the three-time Emmy winner's work and behind-the-scenes footage. It will air on Dec. 22 at 8:30 p.m on HBO.

Someone Like One! Adele does ladylike chic in a long-sleeved tea dress and beehive as she collects her MBE from Prince Charles

She's had to choose outfits for her fair share of red carpet events over the years.

But as Adele picked an ensemble to collect her MBE from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, she decided to play it safe and stick to her signature style in a Stella McCartney long-sleeved tea dress.

However, Adele did add a quirky twist to her look by wearing her strawberry blonde hair up in a beehive, accessorized with a Philip Treacy veiled headband.

The 25-year-old looked stylish but safe in her long-sleeved black dress, which featured green metallic accents, which nipped her in at the waist before going into a full skirt. 

Adele teamed the dress with black sheer tights and heels, and kept her make-up simple with a smoky eye and nude lip. 

Her hair added to her ladylike look, with Adele using Beauty Works GOLD Weft extensions to create the voluminous updo. 

Clearly delighted with the honour, Adele beamed from ear to ear as Prince Charles pinned the medal to her chest, before shaking hands with the royal. 

Charles was then seen chatting to Adele for several minutes, presumably congratulating her on her immense musical success. 

The Someone Like You singer, who found fame after a friend posted her demo on MySpace in 2006, already has a bulging trophy cabinet, from Brit Awards to Grammys, and was honoured for services to the music industry.

Also honoured was Christian Horner, the team principal of the Red Bull Formula One team which has won four consecutive constructors' and drivers' world championships. He was awarded an OBE for services to motorsport.

Adele - whose full name is Adele Laurie Blue Adkins - was born when her mother was 18, to a father she says she never knew.

From an early age she wanted to sing and her mother regularly arranged the lamps in her house to form a spotlight so Adele could perform to family and friends.

She was offered a recording contract with XL Recordings after her friend posted the demos on MySpace soon after she graduated from the performing arts Brits School in Croydon in 2006.

Meet the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2014

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Membership in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will pass the 300 mark in April, when the Class of 2014 -- Peter Gabriel, Daryl Hall & John Oates, KISS,Nirvana, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens – joins the Rock Hall at the 29th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in New York.

The Beatles’ late manager Brian Epstein and the Rolling Stones’ ex-manager Andrew Loog Oldham are going in as nonperformers and winners of the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Bruce Springsteen’s back-up group, the E-Street Band, is being honored as the 2014 Award for Musical Excellence.

Singing wait’ll next year are nominees the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, LL Cool J, the Meters, N.W.A., the Replacements, Link Wray, Yes and the Zombies.

Let’s meet the newest Hall of Famers (in alphabetical order):

Peter Gabriel

Some know him as the guy who was replaced as the Genesis frontman by Phil Collins, but Genesis founder Gabriel has been much more than that. His musical gifts are obvious – as evidenced by the six Grammys, 13 MTV Video Music Awards, a ton of Brit Awards and even recognition from Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

An innovative singer-songwriter, Gabriel is also the founder of WOMAD, the World of Music Arts and Dance movement, intended to spread the beauty and influence of world music. And as those MTV Awards indicate, he and his song “Sledgehammer’’ pretty much made the music network, back in the day when it still played music videos.

He’s already in the Rock Hall, by the way, as a member of Genesis in 2010.

Hall & Oates

Blond and blue-eyed Daryl Hall and swarthy John Oates combined rock ‘n’ roll and rhythm and blues into a form of music they called “rock and soul.’’ The songs weren’t deep or meaningful, but they featured strong hooks that made them memorable.

Like fellow inductees Gabriel and Nirvana, Hall & Oates benefited from exposure on MTV. A LOT of exposure on MTV. You couldn’t turn on the channel without hearing a No. 1 from them, including “Rich Girl,’’ “Kiss Is On My List,’’ “Private Eyes’’ and “Maneater.’’

The duo from Philadelphia – ergo, they’re among Rock Hall boss and Philly native Greg Harris’ favorites – had 34 hits chart on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, seven platinum albums and six gold. They’re continuing to record and make new music, both as a duo and solo.

Hall has found particular success with an award-winning Web broadcast, “Live From Daryl’s House.’’

KISS

Finally, all the rabid KISS fans can calm down. As if that were possible. Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss are in. But it’s going to be interesting. Frehley and Criss have joined and left the band twice now, and are personas non grata with Simmons and Stanley. The two have said no way will they perform at the ceremony with their ex-bandmates. But as the Rock Hall’s Harris said, these things have a way of working themselves out, so we’ll see.

The KISS Army has fought long and hard to get their heroes into the Hall. Maybe their cause was aided by Simmons’ reality show, “Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels.’’

But most likely, it’s the band’s signature riffs on such rock ‘n’ roll anthems as “Rock and Roll All Nite’’ and “Detroit Rock City.’’ And, of course, the makeup and stage presence haven’t hurt. Nobody ever accused KISS of being musical prodigies, but the band may be one of the most entertaining live acts to grace a stage.

Nirvana

Print out the Wikipedia bios of all the members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2014, and that of Nirvana kills the fewest trees.

But there’s no doubt of the influence of the band that featured Kurt Cobain on lead vocals and guitar, Krist Novoselic on bass and Dave Grohl on drums. From 1987 until Cobain’s suicide in 1994 – and especially in 1991, with the release of their second album, “Nevermind,’’ and the signature hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit’’ -- Nirvana was the voice of teen angst.

Oh, and it’s no accident – at least to me – that the band’s greatest success didn’t come till AFTER Grohl joined in 1990. He has continued to shine as the frontman and guitarist of the Foo Fighters, which he formed upon Cobain’s death. That means he will be eligible for induction a second time – like Sir Paul McCartney via Wings and the Beatles – for the Class of 2019.

Linda Ronstadt

Ronstadt, who’s now battling Parkinson’s disease, was one of the hottest acts going in the ’70s. Her voice had tremendous range and passion, but she was able to do something that few could do back then: cross over from rock to country.

As the Rock Hall noted in its bio, “Ronstadt was especially good at singing early rock and roll; she had a string of hits that revived in rock pioneers: Roy Orbison’s ‘Blue Bayou,’ the Everly Brothers’ ‘When Will I Be Loved' and Buddy Holly’s ‘That’ll Be the Day’ among them.’’

In all, Ronstadt released more than 30 studio albums and 15 compilation or live albums. She’s also lent her voice to more than 120 albums by other artists, including Frank Zappa, the Chieftains, Emmylou Harris and Neil Young, to name a few.

I confess she was a favorite, back in the day, and I was totally jealous of her beau back then, Gov. Jerry “Moonbeam’’ Brown of California.

Cat Stevens

To me, this is the biggest surprise of the inductees. Not because he doesn’t deserve it, but because of his decision back in 1977, after years of stardom, to convert to Islam.

I honestly thought the backlash would keep the guy behind hits like “The First Cut is the Deepest’’ and “Peace Train’’ from getting in, and I’m glad to see that I was wrong.

He auctioned off all his guitars for charity in 1979 and pretty much abandoned music to “devote himself to educational and philanthropic causes in the Muslim community," according to his Wikipedia biography.

He returned to music, going by his “new’’ first name, Yusuf, with the 2006 album “An Other Cup.’’

Brian Epstein

Epstein was the Beatles’ beloved – and abused – manager from 1962 until his death in 1967. He learned of the Beatles while running the record department of his family music store. 

The Rock Hall’s bio on Epstein, who was described as “completely dedicated to the Beatles,’’ pretty much put it out there with this quote from Sir Paul McCartney:

“If anyone was the fifth Beatle, it was Brian. People talk about George Martin as being the fifth Beatle because of his musical involvement, but, particularly in the early days, Brian was very much part of the group.’’ 

Andrew Loog Oldham

The parallels between the two managers who are being inducted are obvious. Oldham was the Rolling Stones' first manager, and worked with them until a rather rancorous split in 1967.

He is the one who famously locked Keith Richards and Mick Jagger in a room and MADE them write the Stones’ first original tune. He also created that bad-boy image that served the Stones so well early on, and forced them to dump Ian Stewart as an onstage keyboard player, reducing the band’s membership to five.

The E-Street Band

Just between us, I was shocked these guys weren’t already part of the Rock Hall. Turns out that when their boss, THE BOSS, was inducted in 1999, he went in as a solo artist.

I’m not, not, NOT taking anything away from Springsteen, but if ever was a band that helped make their frontman famous, it was the E-Street Band. Nils Lofgren, who was brought in when "Miami" Steve Van Zandt left the band to pursue a solo career, and stayed when he came back, gives the band a fantastic tandem (or trio, considering Bruce, too) on guitar. Max Weinberg is one of the most solid pocket drummers in the business.

Sadly, keyboardist Danny Federici and sax man Clarence “Big Man’’ Clemons won’t be on the stage when they’re honored. Federici died of cancer in 2008, and Clemons passed due to complications from a stroke in 2011.

It is here!!!! "Ready to Fall" by Daisy Prescott

I really LOVED this book. I enjoyed "Geoducks are for Lovers" tremendously and I couldn't wait for this book as it features one of my favourite characters from "Geoducks are for Lovers", John Day. Picture this, a hot lumberjack with a beard, who is a nice guy too. Of course not TOO nice. I fell head over heels in love with him and I so want a John Day of my own. I couldn't help picturing him and getting hotter and hotter for him as I got to know him better in this book.

Daisy is a genius when writing the ins and outs of relationships. I cried and laughed through this book and I cannot wait for Daisy to start writing the next one. There are also a few other characters in "Ready to Fall" that where in "Geoducks are for Lovers" and it was like visiting old friends. I got drawn in in the first sentence and I couldn't put it down till the last words were read.

 I don't want to give any spoilers so I will say if you enjoy a great book you cannot miss this one. If you enjoyed "Geoducks are for Lovers" you will devour "Ready to Fall" and miss as much sleep as required to finish it as soon as you can. If you can resist falling for John Day you are a machine, don't say I didn't warn you.

I came home last night, got comfy and settled, ready to watch the final episode of season 6 Sons of Anarchy. I did my best to not read any social media earlier in the day, but I knew something BIG was going to do down. And I thought I would be ready for whatever the ending was going to be...I was dead wrong. I turned the TV off, with tears in my eyes, and loathing for what I just witnessed. 

I'm still in shock writing this. I feel so much hatred for the events that happened. I was so taken back and I feel like an emotional wreck. Driving to work today my friend called me to see if I had watched the final episode, and so we both ranted, as if we know these people personally, as if their not characters but real people. Hats off to you Mr. Sutter for being the KICK-ASS writer that you are!!

For those living under a rock the last few days, I'm sorry to inform you our beloved Tara is dead. The bitterness I feel is not just because she got killed, rather HOW she was murdered. All season we worried about Tara's safety, her motives, her feelings for Jax. There's a scene after Jax tells Tara he will never hurt her, and they're alone together, and without speaking their honest and raw love for one another comes out. Tara has been and will always be Jax's true love. I have never been more proud of Jax's decision to do the right thing, and turn himself in, and protect the love of his life and his children. To be a father and husband first over the club. 

Of course there's always a twist. That leads us to dear ol' Gemma. Let me begin by saying that throughout the seasons, I've always been a Gemma fan...Not any more. I have pure hatred searing through my veins for her. Killing Tara in the most brutal and gruesome way, I hope she pays dearly for it next season. I hope they hang the bitch!!!! 

This is the beginning of the end...with one more season to go, I hope Jax finds out the truth of what Gemma did to his wife, and to his own father. Most importantly, I hope he finds peace. 

USA Sets Premiere Dates for 'Suits,' 'Psych' and 'White Collar'

The network will also premiere its new half-hour comedy "Sirens" from Denis Leary and Bob Fisher during its Thursday night lineup.

USA Network is mixing up its mid-season Thursday night lineup. Suits will return for its third season on Mar. 6 at 9 p.m., followed by the series premiere of the new half-hour comedy Sirens at 10 p.m.

Additionally, the network has announced that the eighth season of Psych will bow Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 9 p.m., and White Collar will come back from hiatus on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 9 p.m.

Sirens, USA's first original comedy, comes from Denis Leary (Rescue Me) and Bob Fisher(Wedding Crashers) and follows the laughable antics of three male EMTs in Chicago. The ambulance adventures feature sports-loving stud Johnny (Michael Mosley), his outspoken best friend Hank (Kevin Daniels) and impressionable new recruit Brian (Kevin Bigley), with the crew often crossing paths with Johnny's ex, Chicago PD cop Theresa (Jessica McNamee). The ten-episode debut season sees guest stars Jean Smart, Loretta Devine, Bill Nunn, Lenny Clarke, Nora Dunn and JohnScurti.

Sirens' debut follows USA's move into comedy, as NBCUniversal cable network kicked off its pricey Modern Family syndication deal (as much as $1.8 million per episode) with elaborate TV spots, cast interviews, games, live events and a fan appreciation day featuring the series' stars -- the type of promotional push usually reserved for original series that sources say calculates to nearly $10 million. The gamble appears to be paying off; Modern Family is up 62 percent among adults 18-to-49 from its Sept. 24 launch on the network, pulling an average 796,000 of those viewers in its ninth week (before Thanksgiving), with multiple episodes crossing the million-viewer mark in the key demographic on Fridays and Saturdays.

The network notes that the new comedy is fit to follow Suits. "We are incredibly excited about our powerful Thursday night lineup,” said Jackie de Crinis, executive vice president of original programming, USA Network. “As a top cable drama, Suits has a massive and incredibly young audience that is the perfect fit for fans of Denis Leary and Bob Fisher’s unique brand of comedy. Both series feature dynamic male leads, sharp and entertaining banter, and a strong storytelling point of view."

For its third season, Suits will see Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Jessica (Gina Torres) addressing the firm’s future after a heartbreaking murder trial, while Louis (Rick Hoffman) threatens to expose the truth about Mike (Patrick J. Adams). Also starring Meghan Markle and Sarah Rafferty, its upcoming six episodes include guest appearances byStephen Macht, Olympian Michael Phelps, Zeljiko Ivanek, Jamey Sheridan,Damon Gupton and Patrick Fischler.

Psych's eighth season bows on Jan. 8 with the faux-psychic duo heading to London, coming face-to-face with Despereaux (returning guest star Cary Elwes). White Collar will return from hiatus with four new episodes on Jan. 9, featuring a "shocking" multi-episode arc with guest star Bridget Regan. Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) remains at the hand of Curtis Hagen (guest star Mark Sheppard) and must complete his final assignment without Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) and the FBI catching on, even as they get closer to cracking the Mosconi Codex. One character's life is put in fatal danger when when a dramatic secret is revealed. The series also stars Willie Garson,Tiffani Thiessen, Marsha Thomason and Sharif Atkins and includes appearances by Steven Pasquale, Boris McGiver and Asa Somers. DeKay will once again go behind the camera to direct an episode.

Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan aren't quite ready to play with whips and chains yet, but they're getting there!

The Fifty Shades of Grey costars shared their first romantic moment on the film's Vancouver set on Monday, Dec. 8, when Johnson (Anastasia Steele) gently kissed the cheek of Dornan (Christian Grey).

The tame but promising scene appears to be shot outside of Grey Enterprises, aka the business that turned Christian into a billionaire. Dornan, 31, wears his character's standard well-tailored gray suit, while Johnson, 24, keeps up Anastasia's plain but pretty demeanor in a simple red dress and belted camel trench coat.

Clearly these two can handle an innocent peck on the cheek, but how will they fare when things take a raunchier turn? Perfectly fine, of course! When Entertainment Weekly asked Dornan if he was concerned about playing such a sexual character, he replied confidently, "I certainly don't fear it."

"I already got a glimpse into working with [director] Sam[Taylor-Johnson] at the test, and I'd met Dakota by then," he explained. "So I had a glimpse into how I felt it would be if I got the part. None of it scared me."

As for Johnson? "I just really understand it," she said of the romance. "I think it's an incredible love story, and that's why it's affected so many people. Erica [author E.L. James] did a really good job of explaining how that just can happen sometimes and you have this chemical pull to someone. Adding in the sex makes it perfect. Sometimes you feel a little bit naughty, and that's okay."

Of course it is, darling! Everyone should do something now and then that turns them the color of the Communist Manifesto.

Family Guy's Christmas miracle (spoiler)

Earlier this year, critic Richard Rushfeld proposed the coining of a new trope: "strangle the dog," a play on the trope of "pet the dog," in which screenwriters would have a character pet a dog as a shortcut to getting viewers to like that character.

To "strangle the dog," however, in Rushfeld's words, would "signal to viewers that a series will be highbrow, serious, and edgy."

Not a single one of those words could possibly, for any reasonable person, apply to Family Guy.

The "Piano Man" who became one of the world's best-selling artists of all time with such hits as "Just the Way You Are," ''Uptown Girl" and "Allentown" is being awarded the nation's highest honor Sunday for influencing American culture through the arts.

Billy Joel joins Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, opera star Martina Arroyo and actress Shirley MacLaine in receiving the Kennedy Center Honors. All of them have been playing music, dancing or singing since they were children — and have never stopped.

Joel said the honor stands apart from his six Grammys.

James McAvoy Takes Best Actor At BIFA's

James McAvoy was named Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards tonight (08.12.13).

The 34-year-old star was awarded for his portrayal of Bruce Robertson in the British crime comedy-drama, 'Filth,' based on Irvine Welsh's novel of the same name.

Accepting the accolade, the Glasgow-born star said: "It's like Scotland's won the World Cup. And as much as I can't believe that's ever gonna happen, I truly tell you I didn't think I was gonna win tonight and I didn't think of anything to say.

’12 Years’ Tops New York Online Critics Awards

Fox Searchlight’s “12 Years a Slave” was the big winner in Sunday voting for the New York Film Critics Online, tapped for best film, actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and supporting actress (Lupita Nyong’o).

In a year with plenty of terrific films, the group spread the love wide, saluting pics already honored in awards voting last week (“American Hustle,” “Her,” “Inside Llewyn Davis”) and bringing in films that had been part of the conversation (“Before Midnight” and “Prisoners”) but not yet recognized in recent awards.

‘MASTERS OF SEX’ STAR LIZZY CAPLAN SCHOOLS US ABOUT PLAYING A WOMAN AHEAD OF HER TIME & GIRL-ON-GIRL CRIME

Lizzy Caplan plays Virginia Johnson, a pioneer in the field of sex research, on Showtime’s intelligent and provocative new series Masters of Sex. Caplan previously starred in the cult comedy favorite Party Down and played Janis Ian in Mean Girls, but her captivating performance in Masters of Sex achieves a new level of greatness.

SSN spoke with Caplan about playing a woman considered ahead of her time, her onscreen chemistry with Michael Sheen—who plays Johnson’s research partner Dr. William Masters—and their emotionally tough, physically intimate scenes together.

SSN: How did you wind up doing this role? What intrigued you most about it? 
Caplan: There are a million reasons it intrigued me. I read the script, fell in love with it. That was surprising to me and my agents as I don’t usually gravitate toward dramatic roles in general, certainly not procedural roles. Also, I usually never go after a role set in another period because I’ve been told throughout my career that I give off a very modern vibe. The fact that it took place in the ‘50s made it even more interesting and more layered. I became obsessed with her and tried to get people to see me in this way. And it worked!

'X-MEN: APOCALYPSE' IS COMING IN 2016

Among the legion of superhero films coming out in 2014, X-Men: Days of Future Past stands tall as the most exciting. With a budget far surpassing that of nearly every movie ever made, a story drawn from a highly celebrated and highly complex comic book arc, and a reunion of Bryan Singer and his rightful seat in the director's chair for the mutant franchise, the movie has promise. So it's hard not to be doubly excited for announcement of a follow-up feature to Days of Future Past. Six months before the film is set to release, Singer has taken to Twitter to announce his next project from the world of Charles Xavier and company: X-Men: Apocalypse.


A concise tweet on Thursday bequeathed the news unto the public. Singer announced that Apocalypse, potentially derived from the X-Men comics "Age of Apocalypse" storyline, will release in 2016.

Though there are no confirmed details about the storyline just yet, the presumed source material "Age of Apocalypse" involves (much like Days of Future Past will) time travel and alternate histories, with Xavier's son Legion (yet to make an appearance in any of the X-Men movies) facing off with Magneto.


According to Box Office Mojo (via Cinemablend), the film's official release is set for May 27, 2016.
