Paul Walker's 'Hours' will open as planned

Pantelion Films and Lionsgate plan to release Hours— starring Paul Walker, 40, who died Saturday in a car crash in Santa Clarita, Calif. — as planned on Dec. 13 in 15 select U.S. cities.

Walker and Genesis Rodrigeuz play a couple who rush to a New Orleans hospital when the wife goes into early labor. The birth goes tragically wrong, and Walker's character finds himself cut off from the world with his ailing newborn daughter when the storm hits and the hospital is evacuated.

The Hurricane Katrina drama will also debut simultaneously to video-on-demand, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hours is not Walker's final film. Fast & Furious 7, which is filming in Atlanta, is scheduled to be released July 11, although Universal is said to be trying to figure out how to proceed, when to resume filming and whether to address Walker's death in the storyline.
