X-Men: Days of Future Past to be shown in 48fps?

Rumour suggests new X-Men movie has been shot in High Frame Rate

Although High Frame Rate was met with mixed reactions, it seems that 'Days of Future Past' could be the first superhero movie shown in 48fps… even though Fox denies the rumours.
Despite the controversy surrounding the 48fps version of 'The Hobbit' it looks as though Marvel's X-Men could be the first superheroes to appear in this new, high frame rate format. But as rumours suggest that the movie has already been shot with High Frame Rate cameras, is this really the case? Or has someone mixed things up behind the scenes?
According to a source over at Ain't It Cool News, 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' was shot using High Frame Rate cameras and will be shown in cinemas at the controversial 48 fps.
"[Days of Future Past] was shot in HFR and will be released in 48fps," said their source. "The filmmakers played coy because of the negative reaction to the technology when the Hobbit film was released, but love the results and will be standing behind a theatrical release in high frame rate."
Of course, this new High Frame Rate was the cause of plenty of controversy when it was used to film Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit'. It left many of us wondering why on earth they had chosen to use it in the first place, giving the film a hyper-real and almost theatre-like experience. And after leaving some cinemagoers feeling disorientated and nauseous, it just wasn't exactly the huge success we were promised.
So why would 20th Century Fox choose to use this for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'?
It looks as though maybe they haven't…
In a report by Variety, representatives from Fox have apparently denied the rumours, stating categorically that the film will not be shown in 48 fps.
"A spokesman for 20th Century Fox has denied an Internet report claiming Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be released in 48 fps," it reads. "Fox isn't sure where the rumour came from but insists the story is false."
Obviously, the studio could be attempting to keep this under wraps until a later date… but I can't help thinking that the original source just may have gotten his wires crossed. After all, we've already been told that many of Quicksilver's scenes have been shot using specialist gear to accomplish a whopping 3600 frames per second. But this is a very special instance, being used to create the effect of everything moving very slowly around a character who has super speed. And I suppose it's easy to see how the original source might have jumped to the conclusion that the entire film was being shot in high frame rates.
So for now, I'd say it's very unlikely… But I suppose we'll have to wait to find out. Still, I can't wait to see how Quicksilver's scenes turn out. But then, I doubt they're going to leave the audience feeling nauseous. Not because of the camera shots, anyway.
Do you think 'Days of Future past' will screen in 48fps? Was it all just a big misunderstanding? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
