Can you judge a book by its cover?

I found myself wandering the aisles of Barnes and Noble looking to find a book any book, which is very unlike me, but I was looking to fill a void. I was suddenly finding myself craving and needing to read, so I wandered up and down all the aisles of the store looking and scanning the shelves. Surely there was a better way to find a book then just looking at book covers. I could ask for help, but then I ran the risk of sounding clueless when they asked what kind of book I was looking for, because clearly I was just looking, not ever expecting to find a book. Then it happened I turned the corner and I saw it the cover of a book that caught my eye.

It was a cartoon, yet sexy it instantly captivated me and intrigued me without even thumbing through it or reading the back cover. Then I flipped it over a grin played on my lips as I read Garnet’s words our heroine,” The line between magic and sanity is very thin. That’s part of why I, Garnet Lacey, quit cold turkey. Never touch the stuff again. No exceptions.” She went on to say, “But magic is so addictive… and my inner Goddess, Lilith, is hard to resist.”

That was it was fate was sealed instantly. She talks of magic a Goddess; game, set match. I couldn't carry myself to the register to pay fast enough. The sooner I did that, the faster I could curl up and dig into this little gem.

I curled up with the Tall, Dark & Dead almost instantly as I arrived back home. I found myself instantly envisioning this woman, Garnet as soon as I started reading. She was a Gothic chick with sex appeal and sass. She is a take no prisoners gal, that has a weakness for bad boys (don’t we all *winks*). What’s not to love about her and tales, of witchcraft and men?

In a time when vampires ruled the shelves of every store we had a witch. I was captivated and salivating to read more of her tales, which included: Dead Sexy, Romancing the Dead, Dead if I do, and the last in the series Honeymoon of the Dead. Yes she has trials and tribulations and it not all roses and puppy dogs, but the way she handles it gives her character and spunk. I was sad to hear that Honeymoon of the Dead was the last in the series, but they do say all good things must come to an end; and boy was this series good.

Tate Hallaway has other books out and they are all in my Kindle to be read, in my spare time. I just need to find the spare time and I'll be good. I am hooked on her writing style the way she makes the characters leap off a page and seem real, and to think it all started because I judged a book by its awesome cover and gave it a chance.
