Millar promises Nemesis will be 'one of the best movies of the decade'

Writer excited by Joe and Matthew Carnahan's script.

According to Mark Millar, Joe and Matthew Carnahan's script for the adaptation of his comic book, Nemesis, is set to knock our proverbial socks off.

The Kick-Ass writer posted a blog on his website Millarworld, claiming it to be "one of the most relentless and powerful screenplays" he has ever read and went on to promise that Nemesis will be "one of the best movies of the decade".

"I was actually SHELL-SHOCKED after reading it, thinking about it for hours afterwards and discussing it with the family," Millar said.

"As a movie, the Carnahans have crafted something we've never actually seen before and I feel like someone in Julia Phillips' office must have felt when Schrader's TAXI DRIVER script first landed on their desk. This is going to be one of the best movies of the decade.

"The fact that it's a SUPERHERO movie is incredibly exciting to me. This is the next step for where a comic-book adaptation can go and, simply as a viewer, I'm now counting down the days until I can sit in a screening room and see the first cut."

The film will follow the story of a billionaire who decides to become a super villain in order to wreak havoc across the world and take revenge upon the police officer who wrongly imprisoned his parents, robbing him of a normal childhood.

Millar went on to describe the screenplay as "huge, operatic, tragic, monumental," adding that every actor in Hollywood will want to play the lead character of Blake Morrow, who the writer thinks will become a screen icon.

"What Joe and Matthew have done with this is practically alchemical," he continued, adding: "It’s going to be the biggest and smartest action movie we’ve all seen in a very, very long time."

The Carnahan brothers will also direct the movie for 20th Century Fox. No release date or casting has been announced yet.
