The couple, who have one young son together, remain 'best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives,' the actress' rep told the Daily News.

Hilary Duff has called it quits on her three-year marriage.

The former Disney star, 26, and 33-year-old former NHL hockey player Mike Comrie have “mutually decided [on] an amicable separation," a rep for the actress confirmed to the Daily News.

"They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time," the rep added.

The couple, who wed in August 2010 in Santa Barbara, Calif., are parents to 21-month-old son Luca Cruz.

Though details of the split remain scarce, rumblings of any drama seem nonexistent.

"There was no major incident – no big event between the two of them. They really did drift apart,” a source told People, adding that the pair tried couples therapy before officially splitting up.

“They have put effort and thought into this decision for a long time,” the source continued. “In the end, they realized at this time, they work better as friends. And they really are great friends."

The couple appeared to be on good terms as recently as New Year’s Eve, when Duff shared an Instagram photo of herself and Comrie dressed up to celebrate the holiday together. The pair were also spotted out together one week earlier when they took their tiny tot to Disneyland for the first time.

Duff had always been candid when it came to gushing about her relationship with Comrie.

"I've never met anyone who can say a bad word about him," she said in a 2009 interview. "He's generous, caring and sunny. We just laugh our heads off."

When it came to Comrie’s parenting skills, Duff had nothing but good things to say about the first-time dad.

"He's an amazing father," she said. "He's so patient and loving and involved. He's all the things that I knew that he would be.
