‘Breaking Bad’ Final Episode Illegally Downloaded 500,000 Times in 12 Hours

Pirates swarmed over the series finale of AMC’s “Breaking Bad”: Internet users worldwide downloaded more than 500,000 copies of the episode within 12 hours of the first illegal copy showing up.
That makes it the most pirated episode of “Breaking Bad” on record, according to piracy news site TorrentFreak. The final episode, documenting the final hours of antihero Walter White, aired Sunday night on AMC in the U.S.

The illegal downloads occurred mainly in countries where the show was available on TV or through other legal means, according to TorrentFreak’s analysis of nearly 14,000 users. About 18% of the “Breaking Bad” episodes pirates were in Australia, followed by 14.5% in the States and 9.3% in the U.K., where the final eight episodes of the show have been available on Netflix the day after U.S. air.

At the peak of the “Breaking Bad” pirate activity, more than 85,000 people worldwide were sharing a single copy of the final ep via a public BitTorrent tracker, according to TorrentFreak. Still, HBO’s “Game of Thrones” retains the record for the largest BitTorrent swarm ever recorded with more than 170,000 people sharing a single copy at once.

‘Breaking Bad’ Sets Another Ratings Record Heading into Finale

It draws 6.6 million, more than double last year

Despite facing the Emmy Awards on Sunday — during which it picked up the prize for best drama — AMC’s “Breaking Bad” hit another ratings high with 6.6 million viewers.

Nielsen said it also said the show set a record in adults 18-49 with 4.3 million viewers, or roughly a 3.4 rating in the demo.

The previous high in total viewers for “Breaking Bad” came the previous week, with 6.4 million — or about twice the audience it was drawing in the summer of 2012.

The “Breaking Bad” series finale is set for this Sunday.

No Man Of Steel role for Cranston

Bryan Cranston has been linked to the role of Lex Luthor in Man Of Steel 2

Bryan Cranston has laughed off rumours that he could be playing Lex Luthor in Man Of Steel 2.

There had been speculation that the Breaking Bad star could be in line to play Superman's nemesis in Zack Snyder's upcoming sequel after he apparently said he would be interested in the role.

But he told Boston.com: "This is all news to me. I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I'm known to be bald. 'What bald guy can we get?' The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him."

Ben Affleck is set to portray Batman while Henry Cavill is expected to reprise his superhero role as Superman in Man Of Steel 2, which is scheduled for release in July 2015.

Bryan, who worked with Ben in political thriller Argo, also joked that if he did take the role he would be too nervous to ask Gene Hackman, who played Lex in four Superman films, for advice.

"I can just see how that phone call would go. 'Gene? Hi, this is Bryan Cranston.' 'Who? Bryan Cranston? What do you want? How did you get this number?'" he quipped.

Bryan, best known for his Emmy-winning performance as drug dealer Walter White in Breaking Bad, will next star on the big screen in crime thriller Cold Comes The Night and Gareth Edwards' Godzilla remake.
