Rob's Corner

Robert+Pattinson+Blackbook+Magazine+4.jpg

These past few weeks, I have been praising Rob’s performance in The Rover. I am still in awe over how dynamic his acting is in that film. But before I get myself caught up again, let’s take a step back. Even though he has a multitude of movies coming up in the next year, I think we need to look at some of his other accomplishments that might not have been widely recognized.

For the first segment, let me bring out a character I absolutely loved, Tyler Hawkins. The movie Remember Me (2010), directed by Allen Coulter, is based pre-September 2001 in NYC.

Tyler, a moody 21 yr-old, auditioning for NYU while working part-time at the bookstore, has a volatile relationship with his father, played by Pierce Brosnan, and a loving relationship with his sister Caroline, played by Ruby Jerins.

His love interest in the movie, Abby, played by Emilie De Ravin, brings a whole other level to the complexity of Rob’s character. From being beaten up by his girlfriend's father to consoling his sister from the bullies of private school, Rob really shows many sides to his acting skills.

For those that haven’t seen the movie, I am not going to spoil it, even if it’s 4 years old now. But you will not expect what happens at the end!

This is just one movie that should have brought more acclaim to Rob!

Next week, I will take another step back in time and come up with another reason why everyone should be in Rob’s Corner!

Hottie of the Week!

This week was a challenge for me. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to stick to athletes, go to TV personalities or if Movie actors would be my cup of tea. After careful consideration and many minutes of debate inside my own head, I finally decided. Why not combine a few? Well, if you can call Quidditch a sport that is. When falling into the world of Harry Potter, the players in the game would definitely qualify as the jocks of the wizarding world. So, even though some of these people may not have played, they all enjoyed to watch. And, they are all grown up. Some you may not even recognize! Welcome to Hogwarts!

Disney's Cinderella Official Teaser Trailer

We first told you about Disney's Cinderella, back in 2013 when we showed you the first images from the set. You can refresh your memories by checking out the story once again here .

The movie out in March of 2015 has this FANdomaniac all buzzing about and wanting more. They released the one sheet.
A live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale. In theaters March 2015.

And the next step was see the teaser. They finally heard the cries from us wanting to see anything from the Disney princess, but it was not what I expected.

The teaser left me wanting more!!! Can it be March already? ;)

For those that are living under a rock or don't know the story of Cinderella:

The story of Cinderella follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella's father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother's dying words and to "have courage and be kind." She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella's hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham-Carter) steps forward and -- armed with a pumpkin and a few mice -- changes Cinderella's life forever.

The Fault In Our Stars

There comes a time when we all look for inspiration, sometimes it comes from within, or a gesture from another person, and sometimes where you least expect it. I always try and live by the motto, you only live once. As I've said time and time again, we only have one shot at this, so make it count. Its a blessing when you find that little bit of inspiration or reminder to truly embrace this life, even when you weren't even looking for it...

A friend of mine told me I had to read The Fault in Our Stars. And because I'm old fashion, and still love sifting through the pages of a book, I bought it the next day. Well, there it was INSPIRATION, staring me in the face page after page. This book isn't just about two amazing kids, who happen to have cancer. its about life, living, embracing the moment, and about love. A love that has no limits, a love that knows no sickness...just a raw love, one that changes you.

Of course I cried, flipped a page, and cried some more. Not just because you knew what the inevitable was going to be, but the sheer beauty of it's message. Is it better to have loved and lost, then to never have loved at all? YES!!!

I saw the movie last night, and without disappointment, I've never experienced a book to film adaptation as spot on as TFIOS. These incredible actors, took this amazing story above and beyond expectations. The story, their performance ripped right through me, and I fell in love again and again...Maybe it was slowly at first, then all at once...

This isn't a movie review, so much as it is a message to please see this film. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, and maybe it'll inspire you. We are here but a fleeting moment, so LOVE hard, and fight HARD...

To John Green, and the entire cast, thank you for this book and this movie. It truly captured my heart.

Aaron Eckhart Will Fade Out

In psychological thriller for Robert Salerno

Last time we encountered Aaron Eckhart he was handcuffed to a railing outside the White House situation room in Olympus Has Fallen. Not inside. Outside. Call us old-fashioned but we think an actor of his calibre - the erstwhile Harvey Dent, no less - deserves better, which is hopefully what his new thriller Fade Out will provide.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it's a Hitchcockian potboiler that'll see Eckhart's character recovering from a nervous breakdown in a beachside villa with a stunning wife to tend his brow and make him tasty cocktails. As his recovery progresses, he starts work on a screenplay in which a cuckolded husband murders his cheating wife. Guess what? Life begins to imitate art, as the screenwriter loses his grip on what's real and what isn't.

Fade Out is the debut feature of Robert Salerno, a veteran producer behind Oscar-worthy dramas such as Arbitrage and A Single Man. In turn, Enough Said producer Anthony Bregman will be overseeing things alongside Naomi Despres.

"[It's] as irresistible as a potent Caribbean cocktail: a twisted mind-bending thriller set in a sun-soaked beach town - from a smart script full of surprising twists, and with true artists in front of and behind the camera,” said Bregman.

Pulitzer Prize winner and The Witches Of Eastwick screenwriter Michael Cristofer is the man behind the script. Shooting kicks off in Puerto Rico in February.

James Mangold & Hugh Jackman To Return For 'The Wolverine' Sequel

“I wasn't even sure after the first [stand-alone] film if I would do another,” Hugh Jackman said about returning for another "The Wolverine" movie in the run-up to this summer's film. “I won’t say never, because I’m still loving it. But there would have to be a pretty compelling reason.” And while those compelling reasons are yet to be declared, it's probably a safe bet that the movie's $413 million worldwide haul—making it the second best performing X-Men movie ever—has something to do with it.
Deadline reveals that both director James Mangold and Jackman are in negotiations to return for a sequel, and really, was there any doubt this was going to happen? With Fox pretty much planting the seeds of massive world building with next year's "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" (which was given a credits stinger in "The Wolverine" with the appearances of Charles Xavier and Magneto), it was only matter of when they were going to get the ball rolling. So now they have a director and star, but what about a script?
Well, Mangold will apparently pen the treatment but no word yet on whole will write the first of what will probably be many drafts, given Fox's usual operating method. But as they watch Marvel now churn out two movies per year, we'd wager this won't be one Fox will want to keep in development hell for too long. Will "The Wolverine 2 But Actually 3" serve as the buffer between 'Days Of The Future Past' and whatever X-Men adventure comes after that? If we were betting men...

Olympus Has Fallen sequel planned

The cast of Olympus Has Fallen are reprising their roles in a sequel to the terrorist thriller which will be set in the UK.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Gerard ButlerAaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman have signed up to return for the next film.
A US Secret Service agent (Gerard), the US president (Aaron), and the speaker of the House of Representatives (Morgan) attend the funeral of the British prime minister in the movie, London Has Fallen.
Olympus Has Fallen filmmaker Antoine Fuqua will not direct the sequel but Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger are returning to pen the movie's script.
The film was released earlier this year starring Gerard as disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning, who finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack.

Fifty Shades gets another writer

Fifty Shades Of Grey has hired a writer best known for penning action movies to finish off the film script, according to reports.

The Wrap says that Mark Bomback has been asked to finalize the script for the movie adaptation of the steamy novel.
Saving Mr Banks' screenwriter Kelly Marcel and Closer's Patrick Marber originally adapted EL James' best-selling erotic novel.
Mark's previous credits include action movies such as Unstoppable, The Wolverine, Total Recall and Live Free Or Die Hard.
Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are set to play the lead roles in the film, with Sam Taylor-Johnson directing.
The movie will l start shooting in December, a month later than expected, following the abrupt exit of lead actor Charlie Hunnam.

Twins sequel is definitely in the works

Too many unwelcome sequels and remakes of classic movies have been made in the past few years and because of this you could forgive us for being skeptical - but oh my God, Triplets sounds the business and it looks like it's going to get the green light.
The actor Josh Gad (Love and Other Drugs) is writing a screenplay for a Twins sequel and it is set to be just as weird as the first. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are reuniting as the unlikely siblings and, wait for it, Eddie Murphy is joining them as their long-lost brother.
Gad told Coming Soon that, "Triplets' is getting very close. We handed in our first draft to much enthusiasm and we're doing a second draft right now that's like miniscule changes and it's very exciting. It's very real."
The first movie was definitely an out and out comedy but since it came out in 1988 we can expect the next installment to enter 21 Jump St territory.
Gad says, "We’re very reverential to the original, but have our tongue firmly in our cheek. As it needs to be, it’s very modernized. It’s taking them into the new world and it’s acknowledging that comedy’s changed a lot in 20 years.”
Sounds friggin' amazeballs we think. We loved Twins, Arnie and Danny were an inspired pairing, but throw Eddie Murphy in the mix? Guaranteed comedy gold.

‘Entourage’ Creator: Movie Is a Go

Ready or not, the “Entourage” movie is finally happening.
The show’s creator, Doug Ellin, confirmed the long-standing rumor last night when he tweeted a photo of the cast with a caption saying, “It’s a go. love you all.”
The show ended its eight-season run in Sept. 2011. Series finale, which was watched by 2.6 million people, ended on a bit of a cliffhanger to set up the movie, but it’s taken several years to come to reality.
One of the series’ stars, Jerry Ferrara also confirmed the news on Twitter.

Doctor Strange Gets The Magic Green Light

The Sorcerer Supreme is in active development

The Doctor Strange movie may not be exactly new news but the project has definitely moved on apace since the story first emerged. Marvel's top dog Kevin Feige, currently doing the press rounds to promote Thor: The Dark Worldcrystallized the studio's thinking in an interview with Movies.com. To wit: "It's in active development right now.”

“Doc Strange, as I've been saying for years, is a movie I believe we should make," Feige elaborated. "We’re just figuring out how to make it a great movie.

Marvel's Phase 3 will kick off with Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man in 2015, followed by two yet-to-be-officially-announced projects in the summer of 2016 and ’17 respectively. Feige was tight-lipped about which of these would be Doctor Strange - if either.

“Whether that’s one of the movies we announce for 2016 or 2017, we have to see,” he said. “I think it’ll be the middle of next year before we announce officially what the post Ant-Man films will be. Stuff might happen before that. It’s too early to tell.”

Our guess is that Strange will end up in one of those two slots and that Marvel is keeping its powder dry until Ant-Man is a little closer to shooting and Phase 2 is further advanced. In the meantime, we've kicked some ideas around on who should play the Sorcerer Supreme. Join the debate here.

First Cinderella Image Online

As Kenneth Branagh kicks off filming

If you were wondering what the status of Disney’s new live-action take on Cinderella was, wonder no more: it just started shooting! Kenneth Branagh and his crew began cranking the cameras at Pinewood, and the first image of Lily James as the titular character has been released.

With Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden, Helena Bonham Carter, Holliday Grainger, Sophie McShera, Stellan Skarsgard, Derek Jacobi and Nonso Anozie among the cast, the new version promises a few changes to the traditional tale, while keeping to the basic structure.

The script, written by Chris Weitz, follows the fortunes of young Ella whose merchant father remarries following the tragic death of her mother. Keen to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother Lady Tremaine and her daughters Anastasia and Drisella into the family home.

But when Ella's father suddenly and unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honour her mother's dying words and to "have courage and be kind."

She will not give in to despair nor despise those who abuse her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an employee at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears as if her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella's hopes of once again encountering the charming "Kit."

Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand as a kindly beggar woman steps forward and, armed with a pumpkin and a few mice, changes Cinderella's life forever.

Branagh seems happy with the assignment: “It is impossible to think of Cinderella without thinking of Disney and the timeless images we've all grown up watching. And those classic moments are irresistible to a filmmaker.”

He’s also pleased with the cast he’s put together, which is nice. “With Lily James we have found our perfect Cinderella. She combines knockout beauty with intelligence, wit, fun and physical grace. Her Prince is being played by Richard Madden, a young actor with incredible power and charisma. He is funny, smart and sexy and a great match for Cinderella.”

Cinderella will go to the cinematic ball in 2015 – a March 13, release is set for the States, but there’s no confirmed date for the UK just yet.
