Rob's Corner

 

These past few weeks, I have been praising Rob’s performance in The Rover. I am still in awe over how dynamic his acting is in that film. But before I get myself caught up again, let’s take a step back. Even though he has a multitude of movies coming up in the next year, I think we need to look at some of his other accomplishments that might not have been widely recognized.

For the first segment, let me bring out a character I absolutely loved, Tyler Hawkins. The movie Remember Me (2010), directed by Allen Coulter, is based pre-September 2001 in NYC.

Tyler, a moody 21 yr-old, auditioning for NYU while working part-time at the bookstore, has a volatile relationship with his father, played by Pierce Brosnan, and a loving relationship with his sister Caroline, played by Ruby Jerins.

His love interest in the movie, Abby, played by Emilie De Ravin, brings a whole other level to the complexity of Rob’s character. From being beaten up by his girlfriend's father to consoling his sister from the bullies of private school, Rob really shows many sides to his acting skills.

For those that haven’t seen the movie, I am not going to spoil it, even if it’s 4 years old now. But you will not expect what happens at the end!


This is just one movie that should have brought more acclaim to Rob!

Next week, I will take another step back in time and come up with another reason why everyone should be in Rob’s Corner!

Hottie of the Week!

This week was a challenge for me. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to stick to athletes, go to TV personalities or if Movie actors would be my cup of tea. After careful consideration and many minutes of debate inside my own head, I finally decided. Why not combine a few? Well, if you can call Quidditch a sport that is. When falling into the world of Harry Potter, the players in the game would definitely qualify as the jocks of the wizarding world. So, even though some of these people may not have played, they all enjoyed to watch. And, they are all grown up. Some you may not even recognize! Welcome to Hogwarts!

Hottie of the Week: July 4th Style

What's the best way to say Happy Independence Day to all of the US followers?  Well the answer to that question is to look at a few Hotties from the US Olympic team!  From swimming to hockey to gymnasts, many of these fine athletes are not only very good at the events they represent but they are also very easy on the eyes.

Hottie of the Week!

This week’s Hottie(s) is coming via special request.  The last 2 weeks that I’ve been on vacation, I have been deciding how I want to incorporate these hotties into my blog.  They are technically not celebrities to everyone, only select people from the Twilight fandom.  So here’s what I’m going to do…

Last week was the yearly get together for Forever in Forks (in Phoenix this year) and in September, Stephenie Meyer Day (SMD) will happen again (in Forks).  Those of us who get together, at one or both events, have had the pleasure of meeting the Olympic Coven, the men and women who cosplay The Cullens and other characters from the books.  While all of the cosplayers are outstanding, there are 2 of them who stick out, Alan (Edward) and Travis (Emmett).

When in character, these boys are spot on to who they are trying to emulate.  When out of character, as “just” Alan and “just” Travis, you couldn't ask for 2 better people.  It’s a good time to be had by all when they are in the room.  So please, enjoy these hotties as much as us who know them do :)

Rob's Corner: The Rover Recap

In the past few weeks, we have been lucky enough to get back to Promo Rob. I love me some Promo Rob. Premiere’s, Late Night Talk shows, Morning Talk shows...it all works since we get to see Rob. With promo for David Michod’s The Rover, we were lucky enough to get A TON of extra clips and interviews. Who didn't smile when the saw a bendy Rob getting all giggly next to Guy Pearce on Peter Travers's interview?

I was fortunate enough to be able to see the movie 2 times so far. It is AMAZING! The acting in this movie just blew me away. Not only did Guy Pearce nail his performance, but Rob was outstanding! So go see it while you can!!!


Anyway, since promo is done for The Rover in the US, what’s next for our Rey of Sunshine (yes, I see my slip there).

Well, as I see it, we have more filming to start here shortly with The Childhood of a Leader supposedly beginning this month, followed by Idol Eye’s in October. And hopefully, Maps To The Stars will make an appearance at TIFF.

Right now is such a good time to be a Rob fan!
