Welcome to Terminus

Welcome back Rick! Didn't see it coming, Rick taking a nice chunk of Joe's neck off.  With that said, last night's season finale was INSANE! The days of working in the garden at the ol' prison are over. The opening scene with Rick covered in blood, just confirmed the fact that we were going to be in for a wild ride. It seems like the walkers are the last of the groups problems. The end of season 4 left us wondering how the group is going to handle a new enemy...the humans. But as Rick said, "They're going to feel pretty stupid when they find out, they're screwing with the wrong people."
I hate Terminus...It just sounds like no good can come from it. First the creepy lady serving slabs of meat (no idea what body parts it came from), the weird room with all the candles lit, and the pile of remains. I believe there was a ribcage or two or three in there. One of the biggest question marks that I thought we might see in the finale is simply, where is Beth? Do the cannibals have her, is she in one of the other containers? Too many questions, and its a long wait until October. What were your thought's on the season finale last night?

Will They Find Each Other

This Sunday is the last episode of the season for Walking Dead, I say that with a sigh...I've had mixed feelings about this season. After their mid-season hiatus, I felt it was a bit lack luster (minus the Governor FINALLY getting killed, happy dance). But as a true fan I was excited to see what was next for my favorite survivors. The second half of the season has had some of the BEST episodes in the series. After watching season after season, we get hooked on these characters, we embrace them, fear for their survival...without knowing much of their back story.

Michonne opens up to Carl and shares her past, and we get to see a softer side of this fearless warrior. We know she is badass with a sword. However, seeing Michonne and Carl joking and laughing relates to their human side. I think that gets forgotten when fighting to live everyday. Carl and Beth are proving they can handle themselves and this new world. Its refreshing to see them both take an adult stand and I can't wait to see whats in store for these characters.

No shock that I'm a huge Daryl fan. One of the best episodes was seeing him break down those walls - hear his story. To see him break down...well damn!!! Beth was pretty badass to get him to break. One of the the best scenes was of them in the house, and in his "Daryl" way letting Beth know maybe there might be some good people left after all. And it was because of her (awe moment)...then the zombies have to come and ruin everything, and she gets kidnapped. So the big question....WHERE IS BETH???!!!

Probably the most shocking, the little girl goes cray cray and kills her sister so she can have a zombie friend...Not gonna lie, I'm still a little disturbed by that. On a serious note though, it shows the impact and psychology of a post apocalyptic life.

I hope the finale brings the gang together. Maggie and Glens reunited moment was so touching last week, and I'd love to see more of it. Most of all I hope Rick is able to hold his daughter Judith again. And hooray again, the piece of shit Governor is DEAD!!!!

But the question is, what lies ahead in Terminus???

Could You Let Her Go...

This week's episode of the Walking Dead had almost a quietness about it, yet what a turn of events. How could Rick let Carol go? Was he in the right to do that? In a way, Rick saved her life. She would surely have faced her death or fight for her life had she returned with Rick. Would it have ended up a camp divided? 

I'll be interested to see what the aftermath is going to be when everyone finds out what Carol did, and Rick's decision to leave her behind. I think the biggest obstacle Rick will face is Daryl. Through the seasons, we have seen Daryl have an especially soft spot for Carol. many hoped maybe the two would take on a more intimate role with one another. 

I think what Rick did was harsh, but he knew his audience. By that I mean I don't think he would have been able to let her go if he didn't feel she could protect herself. Carol is by far one of the most changed characters since the show first aired. When we first meet Carol, she's this quiet, meek woman, who's scared like everyone else. Then we get a glimpse of her real life, an abusive husband - both verbally and physically. We see how she just stands by this pitiful excuse of a man. Suffice to say, he gets killed, and not before an ass beating he severely had coming. That's one person I did not miss. But then she losses Sophia, her daughter. After Sophia, we start to see a subtle change in Carol...but not until season 4 do we see a 180 from the fragile scared woman in those beginning episodes. The Carol we know today is hard, almost reminds me of Shane in a way. Is that why Rick could let her go so easily? What are your thoughts?

Michonne & Daryl

For all you Walking Dead fans...how much do love Michonne and Daryl??!!! They are by far 2 of my most favorite characters. Now Daryl as you know has been in the series since the first season, and we got introduced to Michonne in season 3. 

Both are similar in a way; fierce killers, they don't show emotion too much but you know they love deeply, and most importantly their honorable and loyal.

Now some may disagree, but there is something about Daryl that makes him HOT.

Maybe its the dirt, the attitude, or just his badass demeanor, whatever it is, it works on him. Watching him take down those nasty zombies with his bow and arrows is pretty hot too. 

Now when Michonne came into the group I was so taken with her character. She embodies such strength and heart.  And no one is fiercer with a sword...She's someone I would want on my side, if i was faced with hundreds of kinda sorta dead people coming at me. 

Now in its fourth season, we haven't seen a love interest for Daryl. It's would definitely take a certain type of woman to handle Daryl, and I think she would have to really be his equal. I think you see where I'm going with this. I think a more personal relationship between these two are in order this season. I also believe the chemistry between them would be insane. One trying to dominate the other, or would they show their vulnerability with one another?  I think we're ready to see our beloved Daryl get some post apocalyptic lovin!!!! 

'Walking Dead' fan convention in Atlanta expected to draw 10,000

Cable TV's "The Walking Dead" has inspired a new convention, a podcast, and a one-man play.

The podcast and Atlanta-based convention are the creations of Eric Nordhoff and James Frazier, also known as the "Walker Stalkers" because of a road trip they made last fall from Nashville, Tenn., to Georgia to see the AMC show being filmed.

The convention, Walker Stalker Con, is expected to draw 10,000 or more participants when it's held early next month, Nordhoff said.

"The Walking Dead" characters battle zombies known as "walkers" in the streets of downtown Atlanta and in forests, small towns and a prison south of the city.

The convention will feature appearances by some of the show's actors, including Norman Reedus, who slays walkers with a crossbow as Daryl Dixon; Andrew Lincoln, who plays Sheriff Rick Grimes, and Lauren Cohan, also known as Maggie Greene on the show.

The series returned for its fourth season this month with its biggest audience ever. The 16.1 million people who watched the Oct. 13 series premier shattered the show's previous record of 12.4 million, the Nielsen company said.

Nordhoff and Frazier are neighbors in suburban Nashville, and had gathered every Sunday in Frazier's basement to watch "The Walking Dead." They'd heard talk of a big day of filming in Senoia, the town south of Atlanta where much of the show is produced, so they got up before sunrise and made the trip to Georgia.

"It was our dream day," recalls Nordhoff, 42.

"We got to meet I think eight members of the cast," he recalls. "Somebody called us the 'Walker Stalkers' when we were there."

The two decided to develop a podcast that has become popular with fans of the show. The podcast features discussions of many aspects of the show's storyline and interviews with people behind the scenes, such as special effects makeup expert and show producer Greg Nicotero.

In April, Nordhoff and Frazier came up with the idea of holding the convention, which will take place Nov. 1-3.

The show has also inspired one of its actors to stage a one-man play.

Robert "IronE" Singleton, who played "T-Dog" in the first three seasons of the show, will portray 18 characters in "Blindsided by The Walking Dead," which tells the story of how he grew up in the Perry Homes housing project during Atlanta's crack cocaine epidemic before he found work as an actor.

A key scene of "The Walking Dead" was filmed on a downtown Atlanta rooftop just a few miles from the project, where violence was ever-present during Singleton's childhood and teenage years.

"Blindsided by The Walking Dead" is a work of drama, comedy, dance, spoken word and rap. Its characters include a thug, a crack addict, Richard III from Shakespeare, God and Singleton's deceased mother.

"I think it could inspire people and save lives," said the 38-year-old actor, who also will take part in a panel discussion during the convention.

"It's about embracing truth and love through everything you do."

‘The Walking Dead’ Becomes Basis for College Class

UC Irvine turns hit series into online course

The zombie craze in popular culture has infected higher education.

University of California, Irvine, has announced an online course based on “The Walking Dead.” The university is partnering with AMC, home of the zombie-themed hit series since it premiered in 2010, and Instructure, a provider of online academics, to create the online course.

Students will view scholarly subjects such as social science, public health, mathematics and physics through the lens of a hypothetical zombie apocalypse, using examples from the one portrayed in the series.

The eight-week course will be free and open to the public around the world, and it will be hosted through Instructure’s Canvas Network program. UC Irvine has tapped professors Zuzanna Bic, Joanne Christopherson, Michael Dennin and Sarah Eichhorn, spanning a variety of disciplines, to teach.

The massive open online course, or MOOC, is being developed through UCI Extension with no public funds used.

While UC Irvine is the first university to partner with AMC in such a way, it’s not the first to latch onto the undead phenomenon. Michigan State U. offers a popular “Surviving the Coming Zombie Apocalypse: Disasters, Catastrophes and Human Behavior” course, and Columbia College Chicago has a “Zombies in Popular Media” class.

“The Walking Dead” is wildly popular among the college age group and was the No. 1 entertainment show on television in the key 18-49 demographic last season.

The first class is scheduled for Oct. 14, the day after the show’s season-four premiere, and it will run on Mondays through Dec. 2, with provisions to prevent show spoilers for international students.
