Such an exciting month of May for us Pattinson followers.  Not only did we get an amazing week of coverage from Cannes with both David Michaud’s “The Rover” midnight showing and David Cronenberg’s “Maps To The Stars”, but we also got plenty of interviews and a new movie role!

Both of these films have had huge successes at Cannes and are opening worldwide within the next few months.  I, for one, cannot wait until June 20th when The Rover opens in the US!

As for other casting news, gossip is that he has been cast in Idol Eyes, directed by Olivier Assayas, with Robert De Niro and Rachel Weisz (in talks) joining.

New Zealand film-maker Jane Campion is to be joined by industry colleagues from Mexico, China, South Korea, France and Iran on the jury for next month's Cannes film festival. The nine-member panel will decide the division of the major spoils, including the recipient of the crowning Palme d'Or award.

Joining Campion at the table will be Mexican actor and film-maker Gael García Bernal, Iranian performer Leila Hatami, who starred in the Oscar-winning A Separation, South Korea's Jeon Do-yeon, France's Carole Bouquet and the Hollywood actor Willem Dafoe. The jury also finds room for three writer-directors in Denmark's Nicolas Winding Refn, China's Jia Zhangke and Sofia Coppola of the US.

Campion, who won the 1986 Palme d'Or for her short film Sweet and the 1993 prize for her feature The Piano, will serve as jury president. Among the contenders for the top prize at this year's event are new films from Mike Leigh, Ken Loach, Michel Hazanavicius, David Cronenberg and Jean-Luc Godard.

The 67th Cannes film festival runs from 15-25 May.

Cannes here we come!!

He is known to many as either Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter or Edward Cullen of The Twilight Saga, but to us who follow his career, he is known as Robert Pattinson.  My whole purpose in writing this blog is to follow the steps of his career moving forward.  So each week, I am going to try to write about one of his upcoming films.  Granted, I could talk about him non stop, but the most important thing to me is to get his name and his movies out to the public..

The first film has been announced as a midnight screening at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

The_Rover_5.jpg

Under the direction of David Michaud, The Rover is a futuristic film about a loner who is tracking a gang of thieves that stole his vehicle through the Australian Outback.  Along the way he picks up Reynolds, played by Rob.

This role, for Robert, seems to be more gritty than his previous roles.  From the screenshots and teaser trailers that have been released thus far by A24 films, this is not your normal “romantic/pretty” Rob.  From his fake teeth, to his dirty clothes and his bowl hair cut, he is definitely not in a teen hearthrob role that the public has associated with him.

For a link to the amazing trailer, check out the previous blog post on www.Fandemoniumnetwork.com

So, my thoughts are:
