‘Jem and the Holograms’ Movie Has Its Four Leads

Last month, no one thought a Jem and the Holograms movie was possible. This month, it’s already filming and the cast has now been revealed.

Aubrey Peeples, best known for a role on TV’s Nashville, will play Jem. Disney star Stefanie Scott is Jem’s sister Kimber, Aurora Perrineau (Pretty Little Liars) is Shana and Hayley Kiyoko (Lemonade Mouth) is Aja.

Jon M. Chu is directing from a script by Ryan Landels. The director posted a photo of the full Jem and the Holograms movie cast, which you can check out below.

Chu is producing along with Scooter Braun and Jason Blum. When they first announced the project, the trio put out an online call for talented actors/musicians and more. There seemed like a chance an unknown would be cast in a lead role. That obviously isn’t the case with Jem and her band.

At least two of the actresses have previously shown musical talent on screen. Peeples played a singer on Nashville and Kiyoko played a musician in the underrated Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth. That makes them pretty spot on for this film, based on the cult classic ’80s cartoon.

This version of Jem “centers on an orphaned teenage girl who becomes an online recording sensation. She and her sisters embark on a music-driven scavenger hunt — one that sends them on an adventure across Los Angeles in an attempt to unlock a final message left by her father.” (That’s according to the Hollywood Reporter.)

Chu is already shooting Jem, which suggests it could be in theaters later this year or, more likely, early next year. Or it could go with some new media distribution plan too. There’s very little traditional about the way Jem and the Holograms is being made.

NBC Unveils Post-Olympics Plan For Five New Series; Comedies To Get Previews During Games

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Jan. 10, 2014 — NBC has announced premiere dates for five of its upcoming midseason series — comedies “About a Boy” and “Growing Up Fisher,” dramas “Believe” and “Crisis,” and alternative program “American Dream Builders.”

Created for television by Jason Katims (“Friday Night Lights,” “Parenthood”), “About a Boy” — based on the best-selling Nick Hornby novel — will premiere in its regular time period Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT leading out of “The Voice.” A few days earlier, however, the first episode of the show will preview in primetime during the Olympics on Friday, Feb. 21 (10:30 p.m.) immediately following NBC’s coverage of the Winter Games from Sochi, Russia that night.

“Growing Up Fisher,” from creator DJ Nash and starring J.K. Simmons and Jenna Elfman, will premiere in its regular time period Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 9:30 p.m. with “About a Boy” as its lead-in. “Growing Up Fisher” will also have its first episode premiere during the Olympics on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 10:30 p.m., following coverage of the Closing Ceremonies.

“Believe,” from executive producers J.J. Abrams (“Revolution”) and Alfonso Cuarón (“Gravity”), who also directed the pilot, will have a special preview Monday, March 10 at 10 p.m. following “The Voice” and will premiere in its regular time period Sunday, March 16 at 9 p.m. “Believe” is a suspense drama that follows a unique 10-year-old girl with incredible powers who must be protected from falling into the wrong hands.

“Crisis,” starring Gillian Anderson and Dermot Mulroney, will premiere Sunday, March 16 at 10 p.m. The series examines to what extremes elite and influential Washington, D.C., parents will go to when their children are put in jeopardy by a man who is out for revenge.

The Nate Berkus-hosted reality competition series “American Dream Builders” will premiere Sunday, March 23 at 8 p.m. The hourlong series pits 12 of the country’s most accomplished designers and builders against each other as they tackle massive home renovation projects, featuring unique architectural styles, resulting in some jaw-dropping transformations.

Ghost to be turned into TV series

Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze's film Ghost is being adapted for the small screen.

Paramount is making a television show based on the 1990 supernatural love story about a man who is murdered and communicates with his fiancee through a medium, reported The Wrap.

They have hired Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner to pen the pilot for the series.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with Akiva and Jeff, two deeply creative and accomplished talents, on the television adaptation of this classic supernatural drama," Paramount TV president Amy Powell said.

Ghost followed Sam Wheat (Patrick) who teams up with psychic Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg) after he is murdered, so he can avenge his death and say goodbye to his fiancee Molly (Demi).

It made more than 500 million dollars worldwide and scooped two Oscars, Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Whoopi.

The movie also inspired a stage version, Ghost The Musical.

Although such responses were deemed flaws, it is in these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most. After all, John is part-machine now, and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian's understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.

The CW's 'Reign' Edits Down Masturbation Scene

A longer version of the scene was in the original pilot.

An early cut of The CW's teen period drama Reign has been trimmed down for broadcast.

Reign tells the story of a young Mary, Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane) as she rises to power following her arrival in France as a 15-year-old in 1557, betrothed to Prince Francis (Toby Regbo), with her three best friends as ladies-in-waiting.

A previous version of the pilot sent out to critics and reporters several months ago included a racy masturbation scene featuring one of Mary's ladies-in-waiting.

After witnessing a "bedding ceremony," a tradition the elders impart on newlyweds in order to make sure they consummate their marriage, one of Mary's friends pleasures herself in a secluded staircase in the castle.

The scene has been cut down in the new pilot version that will air later this week and was not the only part of the episode that was edited down. More scenes were also added, which did not affect the trajectory of the story.

Entertainment Weekly first reported on the edits.

The CW ordered three additional scripts for Reign on Friday. Reign premieres Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. on The CW.
